Notice how the language choice is hidden by the compiler – it is an implementation detail.” Definitely a quest worth undertaking, and I thank you for bringing it forward.

I hesitate to wait for Esri to pilot the GQL – Geographic Query Language (somebody please come up with a better name!); they’re not speedy. On the other hand one developed without them will take a long time, if ever, to be available in that ecosystem (c.f. GPX), so they should be involved. I’m not a developer so the only thing I can do to support this effort is cheer from the sidelines. I’m very happy to do that though: GO KIRK! GO TEAM! 🙂

More generally, the word “CodeDOM” is referred to in the article but not defined or linked to. From context I have a general idea what that means, but a more refined definition would be helpful.
