Thanks, yin

Comment on Maperitive Tutorial: Generating OSM Map For Adobe Illustrator In Seven Easy Steps by Amy http://gis.blogoverflow.com/2011/09/maperitive-tutorial-generating-osm-map-for-adobe-illustrator-in-seven-easy-steps/#comment-15563 Wed, 21 Aug 2013 18:21:14 +0000 http://gis.blogoverflow.com/?p=32#comment-15563 Hi Jeremy,

I am student and am trying to do the same thing — run maperitive on my mac — but am having a lot of trouble getting it to run from the terminal. Would it be possible to email you with more specific questions about how you got it to work? I wouldn’t be so intrusive, but it’s for a school project with a deadline in less than week..

Thanks, Amy

I was thinking of writing a post or so for some of the questions that are repeatedly asked daily on the topic or OpenLayers. How do I get in touch with you?

The runnable file for the mac is “Maperitive.sh”, but you need to install Mono first to run it. Follow these steps

  1. Install Mono by downloading it here: http://www.mono-project.com/.

  2. Launch Terminal in OSX. Change to the folder where you have Maperitive like this: cd /Users/username/Downloads/Maperitive/

  3. Run Mapertive with Mono like this: mono Maperitive.exe

Takes a while to start and crashes a lot but it worked for me.

It was fun to play around with the API and see what people were talking about on GIS SE. We have a vibrant community and GIS SE makes that very clear!
